Reducing and Eliminating Gender-Based Discrimination in the Workplace

Each individual is different from others, it means they have different attitudes, habits, cultures, region-based differences, age, and gender, and so on. By the way, gender often plays an important role in determining how individuals behave in an organization, and understanding of these characteristics helps people. Especially with the opposite sex, how they can work effectively and collaboratively in the organization. Reducing and eliminating gender-based discrimination in the workplace requires gender norms and relationship in organizational processes have the potential to ensure equal participation and benefits for all and brings an initiative, and create a comfortable environment for effective gender programming. The word Gender is a term that means providing men and women employees a convenient place to work in the workplace, also known as gender equality, including this work culture into organizational processes will add to the results of the organizational lines. Many organization’s and agencies implement the latest technology and new processes for managing teams and staff, but one point that is not addressed in these organizations is gender inequality, focusing on this specific aspect is essential, because productivity and efficiency depend on the ways in which an organization behave its employees. The goals of gender equality and diversity are simple; ensuring that everyone has access to the same opportunities and the same fair behavior. It is clear that we all deserve to work in an environment free from discrimination, harassment, and coercion, but when we are researching about each organization, this fact does not exist. Points to be noted that organizations will not always know your organization’s policies and processes conflict with each other and do not allow some people to have equal opportunities. Organizations cannot strictly prohibit people of particular gender and religion, but in the case of the research, organizations may find the hidden obstacles that have caused this problem. Many Years ago, gender equality was considered as an external term, because the achievements of established organizations were attributed to the “Men’s Group Work.” The scenario is gradually changing as agencies begin to understand the fact that for-profit and success, it is important to have a diverse workforce. We believe that diverse working teams are very effective and productive than a specific gender work team. There are several reasons which currently organizations maintaining gender diversity in the workplace, some of them are as follows:

  • Usually both men and women are looking at a problem from a different aspect and based on that they look for solutions, in this way organization can utilize from a variety of creative ideas and in-depth perspectives, which can ultimately lead to a better performance.
  • With a diverse gender workforce, organization can expand its customers based and deliver better services.
  • The Gender Balanced Team brings a great deal of knowledge to themselves and help organizations access to more resources, as well as multiple channels of information.
  • Through maintaining gender equality in workplace, organization can create a diverse community of skilled, talented, and dedicated female employees, who plays a vital role in managing the organization.
  • In a gender-diverse workplace, good morale always leads to a healthy work culture where employees can encourage each other and perform tasks in a higher level.

Job Description

Aim of Position: Implement gender policies to ensure gender equality at the organizational level and to support the rights of staff and students.

  1. To achieve the organization’s goals and gender policies, design, and implement monthly quarterly, and yearly plans.
  2. Implementation of Gender Supporters and Rights Equality Programs, and planning for the active presence and participation of both men and women in the administrative and Academic areas of the organization.
  3. Provide educational programs for staff and students of an organization about gender policies and relevant laws.
  4. In order to prevent the female students’ rights, support their rights, and protect the rights of students and administrative staff to attract the cooperation of government, national and international organizations.
  5. Have contacts with the head of the Gender Department of the Ministry of Higher Education.
  6. Make contacts with the Deputy of Women Affairs and other relevant organizations in order to exchange experiences and implement joint efforts with gender groups.
  7. Support female students and women’s rights, propose to hold events on a special day like, Women International Day, Mother Day, and Students’ Day, and so on.
  8. Arrange necessary workshops for students to be aware of the organizations’ policies, rules, and regulations and gender policies and offering advice to the organizations’ leadership on Gender Equality.
  9. Design a program in order to support gender in the organization, to ensure social justice, Gender Equality, and equality of Rights.
  10. Other duties and responsibilities to be ordered by the responsible authorized people
