Al-Taqwa University is Ranked in the Times Higher Education World Impact Ranking 2025

We are thrilled to announce that Al-Taqwa University is ranked by the Times Higher Education Impact Raking 2025 for its commitment to help in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Afghanistan. The Times Higher Education (THE) published the Impact Rankings 2025, recognizing global universities for their efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With more than 2318 universities from 100 countries submitting data across the 17 SDGs, The THE's Impact Rankings is the most accurate and biggest ever picture of universities' Impacts in the areas of research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching for the SDGs.

In the overall ranking, Al-Taqwa University has grabbed a good ranking position in world's leading universities. In the SDGs ranking, Al-Taqwa University is ranked 601-800 out of 1267 universities for SDG 1: No Poverty and Quality Education.

 “The Times Higher Education World Impact Rankings provides an opportunity for universities to highlight the positive work they are doing for society in terms of sustainability, health and well-being, Justice and economic growth," said Mr. Khushal Jawad, Al-Tawa University's Chancellor.

"It’s great to see that we have secured such a high global impact ranking despite a significant increase in the number of entries for 2025," said Mr. Bakhtyar Haleemi, Al-Taqwa University’s Vice Chancellor for Academic affairs.  Al-Taqwa University has made sustainability a top priority for the university integrated with its' research, practices, teaching, and strategic partnerships. Al-Taqwa University's Sustainability club is responsible for advancing the SDGs at the university and leading the process to plan, coordinate, and compile data for the university's application to THE Impact Rankings.

As an anchor institution, we are committed to aiding economic and social growth across the many communities we serve, "said Dr. Sayed Abdul Moiz the Dean for Economics Faculty. In 2025, Al-Taqwa University published its second SDGs report 2024-2025, highlighting the institution's contributions towards achieving the SDGs. AU remains committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and advancing these SDGs across the university and at the national level.
