Al-Taqwa University is Ranked in the Times Higher Education World Impact Ranking 2025

We are thrilled to announce that Al-Taqwa University is ranked by the Times Higher Education Impact Raking 2025 for its commitment to help in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Afghanistan. The Times Higher Education (THE) published the Impact Rankings 2025, recognizing global universities for their efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With more than 2318 universities from 100 countries submitting data across the 17 SDGs, The THE's Impact Rankings is the most accurate and biggest ever picture of universities' Impacts in the areas of research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching for the SDGs. In the overall ranking, Al-Taqwa University has grabbed a good ranking position in world's leading universities. In the SDGs ranking, Al-Taqwa University is ranked 601-800 out of 1267 universities for SDG 1: No Poverty and Quality Education.  “The Times Higher Education World Impact Rankings provides an opportunity for universities to highlight the positive work they are doing for society in terms of sustainability, health and well-being, Justice and economic growth," said Mr. Khushal Jawad, Al-Tawa University's Chancellor. "It’s great to see that we have secured such a high global impact ranking despite a significant increase in the number of entries for 2025," said Mr. Bakhtyar Haleemi, Al-Taqwa University’s Vice Chancellor for Academic affairs.  Al-Taqwa University has made sustainability a top priority for the university integrated with its' research, practices, teaching, and strategic partnerships. Al-Taqwa University's Sustainability club is responsible for advancing the SDGs at the university and leading the process to plan, coordinate, and compile data for the university's application to THE Impact Rankings. As an anchor institution, we are committed to aiding economic and social growth across the many communities we serve, "said Dr. Sayed Abdul Moiz the Dean for Economics Faculty. In 2025, Al-Taqwa University published its second SDGs report 2024-2025, highlighting the institution's contributions towards achieving the SDGs. Research Findings Presented at Academic Seminar: Exploring Key Economic and Cultural Topics

An insightful research seminar was recently held at Al Taqwa University, drawing active participation from both faculty members and students. The seminar, organized by the Faculty of Economics, provided a platform for discussing two critical research topics with substantial relevance to the region’s economic and cultural dynamics: Pak-Afghan Bilateral Trade and Its Impact on Pakistan's Economy The Role of Sustainable Tourism in Preserving the Cultural Heritage of Afghanistan: A Comprehensive Review Assistant Professor Mr. Wasiq Ullah Hamdard, a distinguished faculty member from the Faculty of Economics, delivered an in-depth presentation on both research studies. His comprehensive overview covered the following key elements of the research process: Introduction to the Study Problem Statement Objectives of the Research Formulation of Hypotheses Review of Related Literature Research Methodology Empirical Models Applied Estimation and Analysis of Results Conclusions and Policy Recommendations Throughout his presentation, Mr. Hamdard highlighted the economic and cultural significance of both research topics, particularly the potential of Pak-Afghan bilateral trade to foster economic growth and the role of sustainable tourism in preserving Afghanistan's rich cultural heritage. His analysis emphasized the importance of regional cooperation, with a special focus on how these initiatives could positively impact the economies of both Pakistan and Afghanistan. The session concluded with a lively and interactive Q&A segment, where participants comprising both faculty and students posed insightful questions. Mr. Hamdard responded thoughtfully, further enriching the seminar experience and providing deeper clarity on the topics discussed. This seminar not only contributed valuable insights to the academic community but also reinforced the Faculty of Economics' commitment to exploring research that bridges economic theory with real-world applications. The Faculty of Economics Observes World Planting Day

  March 21st is recognized as World Planting Day, a day dedicated to the act of planting various forms of trees and flowers. This occasion also serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about the crucial role plants play in sustaining life on Earth. It provides an ideal opportunity to mark the commencement of the spring season. Plants and trees contribute significantly to life by providing food for terrestrial organisms, generating oxygen, preventing soil erosion, and serving as a source of medicinal resources, among other invaluable benefits. On March 21, 2025, the Faculty of Economics at Al-Taqwa University in collaboration with the Student Volunteers Club of the University launched a campaign in observance of World Planting Day reflecting the university's commitment to sustainability across various disciplines. The campaign, held on the university campus, included a plant donation drive facilitated by the Volunteers Club. The event took place between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The club called on all students, faculty, and staff to contribute by donating at least one plant, in line with their social responsibility toward environmental sustainability. Additionally, the Volunteers Club actively participated in a joint planting campaign in collaboration with Nangarhar Municipality. The plants collected during the donation drive were distributed to several organizations and higher education institutions situated in Jalalabad City. The university also extended a call to the broader local community, particularly the youth, encouraging them to engage in the campaign and visit Al-Taqwa University to contribute by donating a plant. Al-Taqwa University remains the sole Afghan institution in the eastern region that has prioritized sustainability as a fundamental goal, guided by research, practical efforts, and strategic partnerships. The institution acknowledges that achieving sustainable development goals is not only crucial for the university’s students and the local community but also integral to the long-term success and prosperity of the nation. A Seminar on Monograph Writing

A one day seminar was conducted for the students of the Economics Faculty at Al-Taqwa University on March 16, 2025. During the seminar, the new guidelines for writing monographs, as outlined by the Ministry of Higher Education, were presented to the 8th-semester students of the faculty. At the commencement of the seminar, the Head of the Department of Business Administration, Mr. Wajohullah Amin, highlighted that monograph writing represents a significant academic experience for students, which enhances their research capabilities. He further emphasized that, monograph writing is a form of academic research undertaken by students to fulfill the requirements of their academic program. It involves the investigation of a specific topic, aimed at enhancing students' analytical, research, and academic writing skills. Subsequently, the seminar presenter, assistant professor Mr. Wasiqullah Hamdard, thoroughly explained the various aspects of monograph writing, ranging from its introduction to the references. He also provided clarification on the structural and conceptual framework of the new guidelines to ensure that students could effectively utilize them during their monograph writing and apply the corresponding principles. At the conclusion of the seminar, students expressed their gratitude to both the department and the presenter for organizing such a practical session. Study Tour to Tawlid-e-Afghan EXPO, Jalalabad City

On December 16, 2025, a group of BBA Department students, under the leadership of Mr. Abdul Waris Shinwari (Lecturer at the Economics Faculty), participated in a valuable study tour to the Tawlid-e-Afghan EXPO held in Jalalabad City. The EXPO, running from December 16 to 18, 2025, is an important event that highlights Afghanistan's vibrant local businesses, products, and cultural heritage, offering a platform for both established companies and new startups to showcase their innovations and creativity. The tour provided an exceptional learning experience for the students, offering them a chance to engage with a diverse array of Afghan enterprises, ranging from traditional industries like textiles and artisan crafts to modern startups in technology, agriculture, and services. The students explored how these businesses are not only contributing to Afghanistan’s economic development but also preserving the country's rich cultural heritage in the process. The students engaged in meaningful discussions with exhibitors and entrepreneurs, learning about the challenges and opportunities within the Afghan market. These interactions gave the students valuable insights into the real-world dynamics of business. The study tour was an excellent opportunity for students to gain a deeper understanding of Afghanistan's business landscape, while also experiencing its rich culture and entrepreneurial spirit.
