Workshop on Bloom's Taxonomy Delivers for the Faculty
The workshop on Bloom's Taxonomy was conducted in collaboration with the Professional Development Center at Al-Taqwa Institute of Higher Education with the objective of enhancing the teaching and learning methodologies of lecturers from the Faculties of Law and Political Science/Economics on Nov 22, 2023.
The workshop commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Following the recitation, Dr. Abdul Hameed Seerat addressed the seminar participants, highlighting the importance of continuous professional development for graduate students, administrative staff, and faculty. He emphasized the need for similar workshops and seminars in the future to enhance their working skills and knowledge.
Furthermore, Mr. Fawad Aryan, a lecturer at Al-Taqwa Institute of Higher Education, presented the workshop on Bloom's Taxonomy to the participants. He provided a comprehensive overview of Bloom's Taxonomy, explaining its relevance and practical application in the fields of Law and Political Science/Economics. The participants were introduced to the six levels of cognitive learning: Remembering, Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating, and Creating. They were encouraged to analyze and assess their existing course objectives and assessments, aligning them with the appropriate levels of Bloom's Taxonomy. This exercise allowed them to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments to ensure their teaching practices aligned with higher-order thinking skills. Mr. Aryan shared practical strategies for integrating Bloom's Taxonomy into teaching methodologies. He emphasized the importance of scaffolding, effective questioning techniques, and the use of authentic assessments to promote critical thinking among students.
