A public awareness workshop on the harmful effects of drugs was conducted by The Students' Career and Counseling Center on Dec 2, 2023, targeting students from the faculties of law, political science, and economics. The workshop aimed to educate the participants about the dangers associated with drug abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle.
The workshop commenced with a recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran. Mr. Nasir Khan Jamal, Vice Chancellor of Students Affairs at Al-Taqwa Institute Higher Education, delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the importance of maintaining distance from drugs in line with the principles of our Muslim nation. He pledged that the Students' Career and Counseling Center would continue organizing similar workshops in the future to enhance students' knowledge and capacity in this area.
Subsequently, Mr. Amin Stankzai, a doctor at the Nangarhar Drug Addicts Regional Hospital, delivered a comprehensive presentation on drugs and their detrimental effects on individuals, society, and the community's economy. With expertise in the field, Mr. Stankzai provided the participants with detailed information on various types of drugs, their mechanisms of action, and the physical and psychological consequences of drug abuse. He also shed light on the factors contributing to drug addiction and discussed preventive measures to safeguard our youth from these harmful substances.
Following the presentation, the participants actively engaged in an interactive session, posing pertinent questions related to the topic. Mr. Stankzai expertly addressed each query, providing accurate and evidence-based responses. This session fostered a deeper understanding of the subject matter and encouraged a dialogue among the participants.
